Nidec Industrial Solutions expands in the USA and celebrates ground breaking of $10 million new office and manufacturing building in Ohio

Brooklyn Heights, OH, 21th June 2019 – Nidec Industrial Solutions, the industrial platform of Nidec Group, celebrated the ground-breaking of its new US headquarters and manufacturing facility in Brooklyn Heights, Ohio. Mayor Mike Procuk, and local officials joined the Company and Geis Construction to celebrate the beginning of work for the future home of Nidec Industrial Solutions -Americas.

This investment of more than 10-million-dollars will comprise 67,000 square feet of office and manufacturing space located on the corner of Granger Road and Tuxedo Avenue in Brooklyn Heights. The facility will be a three-tier building and is expected to be completed by January 2020.

The brand-new state-of-the-art facility will feature a purpose-built area for the assembly and testing of large industrial controls & automation systems, Battery Energy Storage Systems and Medium Voltage Drives as well as a cutting-edge production area for Nidec’s industry-leading AVTRON encoders.

It is a very important moment in the fast-paced growth of Nidec Industrial Solutions. I am excited to see our new headquarters taking shape and soon our team can work together in this new facility instead of being spread across three separate facilities as we are today. We also hope to act as a catalyst for development in the area as well as to be an integral part of the community” Tom Aloor, Executive VP of Nidec Industrial Solutions – Americas said.  He added – “We strongly believe in the potential of this significant investment and I am confident it will allow us to serve our customers even better than before.

Mayor Procuk gave a very enthusiastic welcome to Nidec employees saying “You are the biggest single project in Brooklyn Heights’ short 100 years plus history; so, be very proud of that. We’re very proud that you chose to build your plant here and that we will be part of the world market now. Your corporation is worldwide. Welcome gentlemen from overseas who came to Brooklyn Heights Village for this ceremony.”

Many local organizations, institutions and government leaders played a role in developing this project. Partners in the project include: Village of Brooklyn Heights, Cuyahoga Heights School District, Jobs Ohio, Greater Cleveland Partnership, Cresco Real Estate, and Geis Construction.
